Oh hey.
This is the part of Bear Lake Local where we write things down. Could be nature. Could be nostalgia. Could be nonsense. Depends on the weather and what we’re overthinking that day.
We finally got back on cross-country skis this week—emphasis on back, since it’s been years. What followed was a snowy re-education in balance, gravity, and humility. There were falls (many), patient friends, and moments of Bear Lake winter magic that made every tumble worth it. Graceful? No. Out there anyway? Absolutely.
What’s your why? Not the answer you give in interviews—just the honest one, if there is one. Living near Bear Lake has a way of stripping out noise and making certain questions harder to avoid. This post revisits the idea of purpose, why it matters, and why it doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful. Sometimes the quieter things are the ones worth paying attention to.
